What Is Professional Web Design & Why Your Business Needs It?
Professional web design isn’t just about making something look good. It’s about creating a website that works for your business, one that attracts the right customers, keeps them engaged, and converts them into paying clients. Most businesses are losing customers to poor web design. If your website doesn’t work well on mobile, loads slowly, or makes it hard for people to find you on Google, you’re bleeding leads.

Answers to the most common website design questions we get asked
How much does a website actually cost?
Our pricing starts at £1,500 for a Brochure Website, £2,000 for a Business Website, and £3,000 for an E-commerce Website. These are fixed prices, no hidden fees, no hourly billing surprises.
What’s included: design, build, copywriting, SEO setup, mobile responsiveness, and hosting setup. Stock images are included.
If you need additional features like booking systems, membership areas, custom integrations, or advanced automation, we’ll quote those separately upfront. The beauty of our fixed price model is you know exactly what you’re paying before we start work.
How long does the process take?
3–6 weeks from discovery call to launch. Here’s the breakdown:
- Week 1: Free audit call, then fixed-price proposal (within 24 hours)
- Weeks 2–4: Design & build phase with review points so you’re never surprised
- Week 5–6: Final tweaks, testing, and go live
Your timeline depends on how quickly you provide feedback and content (copy, images, etc.). Most clients are live within 4 weeks.
After launch, we handle all technical setup and ongoing support. You’re live and we’re there to help.
Can I edit the website myself?
Yes. All our websites are built on WordPress, which means you have full editing capability. You can update pages, add blog posts, change images, and modify content without needing to contact us.
However, we don’t expect you to. Most of our clients prefer us to handle updates so they can focus on running their business. That’s why we offer ongoing support from £100/month, which includes hosting, security, backups, and minor updates.
Will I be trained on how to use the site?
Absolutely. After launch, we provide a handover session where we walk you through:
- How to log in and navigate WordPress
- How to edit pages and blog posts
- How to add images and media
- Basic maintenance and what to avoid
We also create a simple written guide specific to your site so you have something to reference.
If you’d rather we handle all updates, that’s what our monthly support package is for, we manage it for you.
What happens after the site goes live?
Your site doesn’t end at launch, it’s the beginning. Here’s what we offer:
Included at launch: 30 days of free support (bug fixes, minor tweaks, content updates).
After 30 days, you have two options:
- Go solo: You have a fully functional WordPress site and can manage it yourself or hire someone else
- Monthly support (from £100/month): We handle hosting, security, backups, updates, and any changes you need
We recommend ongoing support because websites need regular updates, security patches, and content refreshes to stay competitive and rank well on Google.
Can I add more pages or features later?
Yes, completely. WordPress is built for growth. You can add new pages, new products, booking systems, contact forms, automations, whatever you need.
You can either:
- Do it yourself if you’re comfortable in WordPress
- Ask us to do it as a one-off project (we quote separately per feature)
- Keep it covered under your monthly support plan
We’ve designed your site so it scales with your business. You’re never locked in.
Will my site actually rank on Google?
That depends on what you mean by “rank.”
Every site we launch includes full SEO setup: proper title tags, meta descriptions, heading structure, mobile optimisation, fast page speed (85+ PageSpeed score), and technical foundation. This means your site has the best possible chance of ranking for your local area and service keywords.
However, ranking also depends on:
- Your content quality (how well your pages answer what people are searching for)
- Ongoing optimisation (regular blog posts, fresh content, backlinks)
- Competition (how many other local businesses rank for your keywords)
Our recommendation: Start with our SEO-ready foundation (included), then add ongoing content creation (social posts, blog articles) to actively drive rankings. Many of our clients combine web design with our Content & Media service for best results.
If you want serious ranking results, it’s a strategy, not just a website. We’re happy to discuss that on your free call.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept bank transfer (BACS).
Our standard payment terms are:
- 50% deposit when you approve the proposal and we start work
- 50% on completion, before the site goes live
For monthly support plans, we collect payment via recurring bank transfer (simplest for both of us).
We can discuss alternative arrangements if you have specific requirements, just let us know.
What if I'm not happy with the final site?
We build sites based on a fixed-price proposal you approve upfront, so there shouldn’t be surprises. During the design and build phase, we show you work at key stages so you can give feedback and direction early.
If, after launch, you want revisions, we cover reasonable changes in the first 30 days of support (included at no extra cost). After that, ongoing changes fall under either your monthly support plan or are quoted separately.
We stand behind our work. If something isn’t right, we fix it.
Should I choose a Brochure, Business, or E-commerce website?
Brochure Website (From £1,500) — Best for: service businesses, consultants, local traders. Think: plumber, accountant, salon. Shows who you are, what you do, and how to contact you.
Business Website (From £2,000) — Best for: companies needing more pages, multiple services, lead generation, booking forms. More flexibility, more pages, more functionality than Brochure.
E-commerce Website (From £3,000) — Best for: anyone selling products online. Includes product pages, shopping cart, payment processing, inventory management.
Unsure? That’s what the free audit call is for. We’ll review your business, your competitors, and your goals—then recommend which tier actually makes sense. Some businesses grow into a bigger package later, and that’s fine.
What if I have another question?
Book a free 30-minute call. No pressure, no commitment. We’ll answer anything else and give you a specific recommendation for your business.
